A Call to Repentance: WEEK TWENTY-ONE

June 1, 2008

"I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance." (Luke 5:32)

INTRODUCTION TO WEEK TWENTY-ONE

INTRODUCTION TO WEEK TWENTY-ONE

This week, we continue to press in during WEEK TWENTY-ONE of our 40 Weeks of Prayer and Fasting, to offer prayers of repentance for the sin in the church, the sin in the nation, and the blessing of Israel.

We now address these areas:

1. SIN IN THE CHURCH: THE CONTROLLING SPIRIT(II)

2. SIN IN THE NATION: NATIVE AMERICAN ISSUES (IV)

3. THE BLESSING OF ISRAEL: ALIYAH

SIN IN THE CHURCH: CONTROLLING SPIRIT (II)

REPENTANCE FOR SIN IN THE CHURCH:

THE CONTROLLING SPIRIT (II)

This Jezebel spirit along with the python or leviathan spirits can only be removed by prayer, fasting, and intimacy with Jesus Christ.

The first time I saw a python snake was in Vietnam. It was about twelve feet long and five inches thick. The way the python kills its prey is by wrapping itself around its victim and squeezing the life out of it.

That's what a jealous, possessive, controlling spirit in a person does to a child of God. These spirits work together. The Hebrew translation for leviathan means "twisted and coiled" just like a snake. Leviathan is a lying, slanderous, anti-Christ spirit. Some day this spirit will be destroyed.

"In that day, the Lord will take His terrible, swift sword and punish leviathan, the swiftly moving serpent, the coiling, writhing serpent, the dragon of the sea." (Isaiah 27:1)

"Lord God, we repent that we have allowed Jezebel to operate in our churches and in our lives. We ask You for the grace and the strength to break free from her destructive influence, and to once again worship You- and You only-in Spirit and in Truth. We repent, too, for the fear of man that has given ground for this spirit to operate among us. Thank You for healing us, for cleansing us, for setting us free and for making us whole, through Your Name and Your precious shed Blood. Amen."

SINS OF THE NATION: NATIVE AMERICAN ISSUES (IV)

REPENTANCE FOR THE SINS OF THE NATION:

NATIVE AMERICAN ISSUES (IV)

Theft of Divine Inheritance: Issues of the Land

Spirit of Mammon and the Curse of Poverty

Prov. 22:16: "He who oppresses the poor to increase his riches, and he who gives to the rich - will surely come to poverty."

The church allowed and even participated in stealing the inheritance God ordained for Native people to fulfill their destiny. Each time gold or silver was discovered in traditional Native territories its discovery was quickly followed by federal or state policies calling for the forced removal, termination, or suppression of the original land owners.

In their quest for riches and wealth the leaders and citizens of the United States have bowed their knee to the powers of darkness and through greed and treachery have brought the nation under the authority and jurisdiction of the spirit of mammon. The precedent established by the actions of the U.S. and its citizens has activated a curse ensuring that poverty and calamity will surely overcome the United States and its people.

Scriptural understanding: ¨ I Kings 21:1-25: "The Lord forbid that I should give the inheritance of my fathers to you." These were the words Naboth spoke to Ahab when the Israelite king attempted to buy or trade for Naboth's vineyard and land. When Naboth refused Jezebel stepped in and through a conspiracy of cunning, deceit and betrayal murdered Naboth and took the inheritance of his fathers. Ahab and Jezebel stole the inheritance God had arranged for Naboth to fulfill his destiny. Because Ahab "sold himself to do evil in the sight of the Lord" God declared He would bring calamity upon him.

Current Consequences for the Church and the Transference of Wealth

Today in the North American church many national leaders are declaring an upcoming transfer of wealth. This declaration is based upon Proverbs 13:22, which says "the wealth of the wicked is stored up for the righteous."

Unfortunately, this is hard to conceive since the church participated with the US and Canadian governments in using deception, murder, and outright theft to plunder the natural resources designated by God for the original people of the land. Without their inheritance the Native American people lack the resources needed to fulfill their God ordained destiny. Until God sees His church advocating for justice and advancing initiatives to resolve this matter, I don't believe the long prophesied transfer will take place. (Read more.)

THE BLESSING OF ISRAEL: ALIYAH

THE BLESSING OF ISRAEL:

ALIYAH

Jeremiah 23:5-8: "Behold the days are coming, says the Lord, that I will raise to David a Branch of righteousness; A king shall reign and prosper, and execute judgment and righteousness in the earth. In His day Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell safely; Now this is the name by which He will be called: THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS. Therefore, behold, the days are coming," says the Lord, that they shall no longer say, 'As the Lord lives who brought up the children of Israel from the land of Egypt,' but, 'As the Lord lives who brought up and led the descendants of the house of Israel from the north country and from all the countries where I had driven them.' And they shall dwell in their own land."

We prayed, O Lord God Almighty:

· Bring back the Jews who lived in Israel, but have left for other countries.
· May this be a year of breakthrough for millions of Jews to return to Israel.
· Bless all ministries and organizations helping Jews make Aliyah with provision and guidance.
· Bring them back for Your holy name's sake.
· Set the Jewish people in the nations free from all that keeps them from making Aliyah.

Song of the Week

LEANING ON THE EVERLASTING ARMS

"The eternal God is your Refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms." (Deuteronomy 33:27)

Words: Elisha A. Hoffman - 1887

Music: Anthony J. Showalter

NOTE: Showalter wrote this tune and words to the refrain after hearing from two friends whose wives had died, and asked Hoffman to write the remaining lyrics.

Words:

What a fellowship, what a joy divine,
Leaning on the everlasting arms;
What a blessedness, what a peace is mine,
Leaning on the everlasting arms.

Refrain

Leaning, leaning, safe and secure from all alarms;
Leaning, leaning, leaning on the everlasting arms.

O how sweet to walk in this pilgrim way,
Leaning on the everlasting arms;
O how bright the path grows from day to day,
Leaning on the everlasting arms.

(Refrain)

What have I to dread, what have I to fear,
Leaning on the everlasting arms;
I have blessed peace with my Lord so near,
Leaning on the everlasting arms.

(Refrain)

BLESSEDNESS TO COME

By A. W. Tozer

"We have a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens." (2 Corinthians 5:1)

A lot of people talk about going to heaven in spite of the feeble hope popular religion affords.

Any valid hope of a state of blessedness beyond the incident of death must be in the goodness of God and in the work of atonement accomplished for us by Jesus Christ on the Cross.

The deep, deep love of God is the fountain out of which flows our future beatitude; and the grace of God in Christ is the channel by which it reaches us. The Cross of Christ creates a moral situation where every attribute of God is on the side of the returning sinner.

The true Christian may safely look forward to a future state that is as happy as perfect love wills it to be. Since love cannot desire for its object anything less than the fullest possible measure of enjoyment for the longest possible time, it is virtually beyond our power to conceive of a future as consistently delightful as that which Christ is preparing for us.

And who is to say what is possible with God?
